Some claim the Mongol Empire was the first to employ biological warfare by catapulting plague-infected bodies over enemy walls, most notably in Caffa, though evidence for this event is uncertain. While the Mongols did engage in early biological warfare, it is more likely that they used the carcasses of dead animals rather than human bodies.
