William Wallace was a Scottish knight who became one of the main leaders during the First War of Scottish Independence. He achieved several victories against the English, the most famous one being at the Battle of Stirling in 1297, after which he was appointed Guardian of Scotland. In 1305 Wallace was captured near Glasgow and gorily executed in London.
