In the 13th-14th century, England was surrounded. The crown was at war with the Welsh, the Scots and the Franks, while rebellious earls threatened it from within.
In Echoes of Emperors, the English civilisation focuses on this period of unrest during the reign of Edward I Longshanks, specialising in longbow archer units while their melee units primarily focus on defence rather than offence. To defeat your opponents’ capital, you must make use of your trebuchets. High-impact cards such as the Magna Carta or Purveyance grant immense benefits, but at a great cost.
The English deck is now available for print and play. You can download it here: English_Base_EN.pdf
A short summary of some of the English Strengths:
- Heavy-hitting Longbowmen with Long-range and 3 ranged attack, but limited movement.
- Sturdy Melee units, like the Billman, with high health and armor, but with low damage.
- Trebuchets to defeat your opponents buildings.
- Cards like the Magna Carta or Purveyance that give you some great options, but often for a painfull cost.
We are very curious to see how you control the new English civlization to outstrategize your opponent and take over their capital. So to more easily share our experience, we’ve created a Discord Server.
Discord Server
Alongside the new deck, we will also be launching our own Discord server. This will be a place where we can all discuss tactics and the history of Echoes of Emperors. We will also use it to gather feedback and win rates, which we can then use to design our new decks and cards in great detail.
How to Print
After downloading the new English deck, simply print the file on A4 paper without margins at 100% size so that the cards are the same size as all the others. Cut out the cards and, if possible, use a 3–4 mm corner punch to cut off the corners of each card. The best way to shuffle and play with the cards is to put them in sleeves with a hard card from another game. The sleeves should be 63×88 mm in size.
Speed-paints
If you haven’t already, follow us on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube. We have posted all the speed art videos of the English Civilisation illustrations there. Liking and following our posts helps us reach a bigger audience!

Rus’
Right now, we’re actively playtesting the new Rus’ deck. We’re almost finished with the deck’s identity and balancing, so we’ll start working on the new illustration soon.
We truly hope you enjoy the new English deck as much as we enjoyed creating it! Hopefully, one day, we will be able to produce official prints of these new civilisations.
Kind regards,
Niel & Stef

YAY! I am very excited about this! Can’t wait to play with the new cards! Thanks so much for the directions on how best to print them as well!
Just out of curiosity – I thought that you said you were going with Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Norman themed deck? I remember bringing up the Plantagents in a BGG post (copied below) and it didn’t seem you were going that route? I’m mainly curious to see if there is a difference between American and European understanding of this time period? From my understanding, the Plantagenets reigned from 1154 to 1485? The Anglo Saxons were 410 to 1066 and the Normans went from 1066 to the Plantagenets?

Thanks so much!
That was the first idea yh, we still have those anglo-saxon cards in the backlog. But we decided we wanted to focus on one deck at a time, we feel this results is much better designed decks. The Anglo-Saxons is something we put on hold for now. We first want to finish the Rus’
Nice! Thank you.
Would it be possible to also have the back cover of the cards to print?
as i noticed by coincidence, they have recently added the back cover for the cards under downloads as printable pdf version.
there you go;)
When will this be available to buy as a printed add-on?
