Some small mistakes

With our first project, some small errors were bound to creep in. Here is a list of the minor mistakes we overlooked. Fortunately, none of them are game-breaking.

Gamerules

First, let’s start with our biggest mistake! That is one rule in the gamerules, on page 4. For barracks, it says, “Barracks cannot be built on water or adjacent to any Capital.” This should read ‘Barracks cannot be built on water or SURROUNDING any capital’. This is an important distinction, as ‘surrounding’ also means that barracks cannot be built diagonally opposite the capital. Therefore, barracks cannot be built on any of the five squares surrounding the capital. This is an anti-camping or anti-spawn camping rule.

Heavy Horse Archer

The next big mistake is, of course, the Heavy Horse Archer for the Mongols. Everyone should have received a separate Heavy Horse Archer card to replace the one in the base deck. The Heavy Horse Archer in the base deck had stats that were far too weak for its cost, rendering it pretty much useless. We are glad we fixed it just in time, as the real Heavy Horse Archer is a very fun unit to use thanks to its long-range attack.

Alternate Art cards

Next are the cards for those who bought the alternate art Conqueror cards. These cards should have the same stats and effects as the standard Conqueror cards in the base deck. However, the effect of the alternate Conqueror card of Basil II says that you can only retrieve Tactic or Technology cards from your discard pile. (This is an older effect that we forgot to change.) As with the standard Conqueror card, it should state that it can retrieve any card from your discard pile when deployed.

German Edition

We also made a small mistake for the German backers. One of the Scottish Knifemen in the Scottish deck is printed in French. Sorry! This was not a joke, but a genuine mistake. We don’t yet know how to fix this, as printing and sending the correct German Knifeman would be very expensive and time-consuming opperation.

Meeples

Lastly, some of you may have received a wrong Meeple component. For example, one person had two blue square rook bases but no diamond bishop bases. So perhaps one of you has two diamond bishop bases and no square ones. If you are missing a meeple component, please send us a message and we will send you the missing piece in the post.

  1. I think there is one more mistake as, at least in my english version of the game, with the armies and warmaps expansion, the HRE has 3 sergeants but only 2 can be used in a deck, making the third one virtually useless if not for replacement in case 1 is damaged

  2. I also noticed the cost of the Chinggis Khan Alternate card is different.

Also the spelling of the Leif Eriksson Alternate card differs from the regular one.

  3. I’ve received my copy of EoE this week, and I love it! I’ve been playing as HRE so far and I’ve noticed a few things around deck building. I have the expansion so I think I should have all the cards. However, these are the issues:
    1) the rarity for the HRE starting scout is III but there is just 1 in the deck.
    2) likewise the Bowmen and Crossbowmen have rarity III but these only have 2 copies in the game each.
    3) the there are 3 sergeant but the rarity is II.

  4. There is an error in the Scottish civilization card in the French version. In English and Deutsch, it says when a unit is killed, draw a card. But in French, it says, every unit in a building gain intimidation and Riposte.

    • That should be the extra Scots Civ card you’ve got from the extra 12 cards in a small package inside the box. I’ve just checked one of the French boxes, the main deck should also have a Scots civ card “Albannaich! Albannaich!” that should have the effect “Lorsqu’une de vos unités est tuée, piochez 1 carte.”

  5. I’ve got a basic question about units. I got the Kickstarter add-on of the stone-finished pieces, three of which are identical. How do I keep track of which piece goes with which unit’s card when the unit is deployed on the map? Or can the mapping from card to unit be changed for each turn (as long as each card is only used once per turn)?
